MAD FLATTER (c, 4, Flatter--Miss Pangea, by Honor
Grades) looked like an interesting prospect in the fall of
2007 after breaking his maiden at Churchill and then
following up with an allowance win at Fair Grounds. He
held for third after leading late in the GIII Lecomte S.
over this course last January, then went to the sidelines.
Mad Flatter could do no better than eighth in his
comeback, a six-furlong sprint Dec. 27, 11 months
later, but clearly needed the tightener. At 5-1 this time
while adding ground, Mad Flatter stalked the pace of
Stungbythestorm (Vindication) before rallying clear to a
five-length triumph. The pacesetter held for second.
